Co-Founder Jon Kurtz graduated from the US Naval Academy and had a 25+ year career in the service. Now the ex-sailor designs catchy slogans and grows the company Dog Is Good with his wife Gila Kurtz; they carry a greeting card line that is Made in the USA. As for the Navyman-to-dog-card-writer career transition? Jon said it wasn’t as difficult as it might seem if you don’t know him, “I’ve always had a creative side. I’m not a musician, I’m not an artist, but I’ve had a creative side and a certain type of humor, and that’s what I get do now.” As the business grows Jon says he now doesn’t get as much time as he’d like to devote to working on the designs and slogans.
